On Sept 3 & 6, 2024, Brighton JHS held its annual Safety Training Workshop in collaboration with BPBD Jakarta and DAMKAR Depok. The event, focused on enhancing the safety knowledge and preparedness of both staff and students, spanned two days, with separate sessions for teachers and students.
On Day 1, the workshop kicked off with a special training for all teachers. The comprehensive session equipped educators with vital safety skills, emphasizing emergency protocols and how to handle emergencies within the school environment. Teachers participated in hands-on activities to ensure they are prepared to respond effectively during emergencies, especially in protecting students.
Day 2 was dedicated to all the students. With the guidance of safety experts from BPBD and DAMKAR, students were taught practical skills such as how to properly use fire extinguishers, how to extinguish fires, and the correct procedures to follow during earthquakes. This hands-on experience allowed them to engage directly with real-life safety scenarios, ensuring they know how to act in case of an emergency.
Through this workshop, our school aims to foster a sense of preparedness and confidence in situations like fires or earthquakes. It’s crucial to remain calm in such remaining calm in such situation to ensure safety. By providing regular, hands-on training, the school aims to reduce fear and panic, equipping everyone to act swiftly and responsibly when faced with a real-life emergency.
