Brighton JHS Depok Students Bring Smiles to YKAKI

On February 12, 2025, students from Brighton JHS Depok had the privilege of visiting Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI), an organization dedicated to supporting children with cancer. This visit was more than just a school trip—it was a heartwarming experience that allowed our students to spread joy, share kindness, and learn valuable lessons about empathy and resilience. From the moment they arrived, Brighton JHS students were warmly welcomed by the YKAKI children and staff. The atmosphere was filled with excitement as both groups interacted and built new friendships. One of the highlights of the visit was the singing session, where students and children joined their voices in cheerful songs. The room echoed with laughter and music, creating a moment of pure happiness. Following this, they spent time coloring together, bringing creativity to life through bright colors and imaginative drawings. The simple act of coloring became a meaningful activity, allowing the children to express themselves and connect with our students in a fun and relaxing way. Beyond singing and coloring, the visit also included playtime, where our students engaged the children in games that brought out their energy and enthusiasm. Through these activities, the students from Brighton JHS were able to bring smiles to the children’s faces, even if just for a short time.

Yayasan Kasih Anak Kanker Indonesia (YKAKI) is a non-profit organization committed to supporting children undergoing cancer treatment. Their mission is to provide care, education, and a loving environment for children with cancer, ensuring they receive both medical and emotional support.

YKAKI not only offers housing for children who need to stay near hospitals for treatment but also provides educational programs so that children can continue learning despite their health challenges. By creating a safe and nurturing space, YKAKI helps young patients maintain a sense of normalcy and hope as they navigate their difficult journeys.

We are incredibly grateful to YKAKI for welcoming us with open arms and giving us the opportunity to connect with such wonderful and strong children.

Thank you, YKAKI, for this unforgettable experience!
