Judika Christian Sinambela, one of the students from Brighton JHS Depok, has successfully passed the second stage of KSN 2021, Social Sciences (IPS) category, and continues to the next step as a representative for West Java to compete with other representatives from provinces in Indonesia. Judika came out as top 5 from Depok City, as he defeated competitors in West Java and passed this stage with six other students.
Judika’s success in KSN 2021 results from his hard work and the endless guidance from Mr. Ignatius Widi Nugroho, more known as Mr. Eagen, his tutor for this competition. Before the competition started, Judika and his tutor prepared and practiced intensively for the upcoming event.
“This is the second year Judika join the Social Studies Club in Brighton JHS, an extracurricular activity that focuses on Social Science Competition. We have weekly meetings, virtually during this week, to discuss KSN questions, practice giving and presenting arguments, and explore interesting activities in Social Sciences,” said Mr. Eagen.
In addition, Judika also receives full support from Dinas Pendidikan (Disdik) Kota Depok. He got the opportunity to learn with other Top 5 students from Depok with Gunawan from Musyawarah Guru Mata Pelajaran (MGMP) IPS as his tutor. Mr. Gunawan was entrusted by Disdik to provide knowledge and training needed by Depok delegates in social Science KSN.
“Even though I only have four days of training with other delegates, I am really glad to have the chance to learn with other talented students from different schools,” said Judika. He finds the training very helpful in focusing on the competition, even though he admits he is still very nervous about it.
Pride and joy are not only felt by Judika and the school but also by his family. Apollo Sinambela, Judika’s father, said he is more than happy for Judika’s achievement to join and compete in KSN. He is happy and thankful to everyone who has supported Judika and helped Judika to reach this point. He believes this achievement is a fruit of Judika’s and teachers’ persistent effort.
“We always improve our learning quality to support students’ ability and encourage them to strive for excellence in the current competitive era. Such abilities are important for the future of themselves and inspire others to pave the way towards excellence.” hope Mr. Eagen.
