Brighton Podcast Episode 2: A Chat with Divya, The President of Brighton JHS Kota Wisata Student Council

In the exciting second episode of the Brighton Podcast, we are joined by Divya, the current and former president of the Student Council, and Audrey as the host! This episode delves deep into Divya’s inspiring journey as the Student Council president, as this year marks her final term. Throughout the episode, Divya shares the impactful programs she spearheaded at Brighton JHS,  Brightonians Got Talent, made to mirror the popular Got Talent format.

Divya explains that Brightonians Got Talent gives students a platform to express their skills and passions in various forms. “It’s an event where all students can compete and showcase their talents,” Divya shares. Expressing her belief that through this program, students can explore and express their diverse interests and emotions. Whether through singing, dancing, acting, or other talents, participants can shine and be celebrated by the entire school community.

Balancing her responsibilities as Student Council president with her academic duties has been a challenge, but Divya shares how she manages it all with determination and a solid plan. Her secret? A task list. “I make a list of all the tasks and prioritize them,” she says. Divya begins with the most important tasks first, ensuring that everything is completed on time without sacrificing the quality of her work. This sense of discipline has been key to her successful leadership as the president of the Student Council.

In the episode, Divya also gives a bit of insightful advice for her successor as the next president of the Student Council: “Don’t forget to communicate with others and always be cooperative. If one person isn’t cooperative, it becomes a burden for everyone else. And make sure to manage your time well.”

Looking to the future, Divya teases an upcoming event called BACC (Brighton Annual Cosplay Competition). It’s annual event where students will cosplay according to a theme, participate in fun games for each class, and take part in a fashion show. Of course, there will be prizes for the best costumes and performances. Divya’s enthusiasm for this event reflects her ongoing commitment to making student life at Brighton JHS both engaging and fun. 

As Divya nears the end of her time as Student Council president, her legacy is marked by her passion for student involvement, her strong leadership, and the unforgettable programs she introduced.
