Exploring Nature and Tradition: Field Trip to Godong Ijo

On the 6th of May, our kindergarten students from ABC Kids Kindergarten DDN branch embarked on an exciting field trip to Godong Ijo. This lush green paradise promises an immersive experience in nature and tradition. The trip allowed students to engage with the natural world, learn about traditional games, and interact with various reptiles in a safe and educational environment.

The day began with a scenic journey through the verdant landscapes of Godong Ijo. The students were greeted by the symphony of birds and the rustling of leaves, setting the tone for a day of adventure and learning. Walking through the trails, they had the chance to observe diverse plant species and understand the importance of conservation.

One of the highlights of the trip was the traditional game-making session. Students gathered to create Ayam Otok-Otok, a traditional toy mimicking a clucking chicken’s movement and sound. This activity was not only fun but also educational, as students learned about the cultural significance of the game and the craftsmanship involved in making it. Under the guidance of skilled instructors, they crafted their own Ayam Otok-Otok, which they proudly took home as a memento of their trip.

The reptile section of Godong Ijo was a fascinating experience for the students. Here, they had the opportunity to get up close and personal with various reptiles. The knowledgeable staff provided an informative session on the different species, their habitats, behaviors, and the importance of reptiles in the ecosystem. Under expert supervision, students were thrilled to handle some of the reptiles, including snakes and lizards. This hands-on experience helped demystify these creatures and foster a sense of respect and curiosity towards them.

The students gathered for a reflection session as the day came to an end. They shared their favorite experiences, from making Ayam Otok-Otok to handling reptiles and feeding tortoises. Ms. Fajar, the principal of ABC Kids Kindergarten DDN, emphasized the value of this experiential learning opportunity.

“This field trip to Godong Ijo highlighted the importance of experiential learning, where students can meaningfully engage with the environment. We look forward to more adventures that combine education with the wonders of the natural world,” she said.

This field trip to Godong Ijo provided a refreshing break from routine and enriched students’ understanding of nature and tradition. The day was filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable memories.
