Nabil explained that the real challenge in this competition is that the questions are sometimes out of the box, not the science lesson he received before. Based on the simulation, he became aware that he needed to learn and explore more about science. Accompanied by his cousin in Junior High School, Nabil prepared this upcoming science competition as a preparation method. Nabil said that he ignores his competitors to focus on himself and give the best he can.
Similarly, Matthew also explains that the complexities and difficulties in mathematics questions for KSN are above his school level. He requires a deep understanding of the concept and high accuracy in solving math problems. He said that he has to practice numerous and wide varieties of math questions to prepare himself. Before this competition, Matthew has achieved medals from multiple rounds such as Mathele's Olympiad, American Mathematics Olympiad, and Japan International Science and Mathematics Olympiads.
Both participants received guidance from the teachers, Ms. Opie for the Science competition and Ms. Retha for the Math competition. The mentoring was done intensively online after school hours since July 2021.
